Advocate Condell Centre Club

Centre Club in Gurnee is wonderful. I was a member ten years before becoming a certified instructor there. It is a one stop fitness shop for all ages, interests, and ability levels at an affordable price.

The facility is outdated, and for the cost of membership, the value is not there. Locker rooms and common areas are inconsistently cleaned, and much of the equipment is worn down or poorly maintained. These issues alone would be frustrating, but the bigger problem is how management operates. Policies are applied inconsistently and appear to change depending on who the member is and how staff feel about them. Rules should be clear and enforced evenly, but instead they’re bent or tightened based on personal preference. That kind of treatment is unprofessional, unfair, and creates a negative atmosphere for members. For the price and reputation the Centre Club tries to uphold, I expected much higher standards. Instead, what I’ve experienced is poor upkeep, inconsistent service, and management that lacks professionalism. I would not recommend this facility.

It is with a heavy heart to say the staff has been very rude lately. They have been extremely rude to our family within the past few months. The manager carries an ego as if she owns the world. Being a loyal member for my entire family ($200+/month) you would think they would care for their members and assist for an inconvenience caused for 1 night right? Wrong, for a failed payment processor they had not let my family enter the gym for the last hour. The manager was using foul language and raising her voice in front of other staff and guests. Was very ignorant during the entire conversation and was refusing to even hear me out! I was in shock to accept the type of attitude I was facing while talking to a “manager” At the end, I mentioned “I hope your attitude gets you far in life” in a very heartbreaking way. And she responded to “it sure will” Note to say - the manager and her friends think they are some hot shot talking to others with a high ego. For the price you’re paying you’d hope to receive respect. Right? Guess not.

This is a great fitness center. It is identical (utilities) as it's sister centre in Libertyville. Staff is friendly, lots of equipment, and very clean. All classes are included with membership and there is unlimited towel service. One of my favorite things about this place is that it isn't ever crowded (in my opinion). I have never had to wait for a pice of equipment and only a few minutes for a set of free weights.
